ADVENTURE BASE CAMP TOUR ,5 DAYS
A softer tour with time for ice fishing and wild life sighting!
The Adventure Base Camp lies beautiful next to a small forest lake and our home for the next days is a Sami tent with hardwood floor ,the wood fired stove will keep us warm and a lantern gives us light. Our beds are simple but comfortable benches covered with warm reindeer skins. We have everything we need!
Day 1
Arrival and check in at the Husky lodge, located at the sleddog kennel. We show you around the kennel and collect all personal equipment we provide you with. When everyone has arrived we have a nice dinner together.
Day 2
After breakfast we pack our gear and load all dogs into the dog truck. We will go for a short drive from where we start the tour. Before we are ready to go we go trough how to harness the dogs, trying the sleds & talk about the technique. You will get a team of 4-6 dogs depending on your weight and how it feels. We follow a river a upstreams. Its a lot of wildlife in this area and we can see tracks from Beavers and Moose amongst others. It´s an easy track to our Base Camp and we pass forest covered mountains and frozen mires on the way.When its time to set camp, the whole group helps out and above all - take care of the dogs. Dinner under the open sky.
Day 3
Some feed the dogs while the others makes our breakfast and when we are ready Morwen,White and the other dogs will take you trough breathtaking views among the magnificent mountains and wilderness of Sweden, the trip today is around 30 km. We take lunch break when we see a nice spot , you will get to taste the traditional “Kolbulle” , an old Nordic dish made on the fry pan over open fire. Back at the camp later on we take care of the dogs.They get some extra snacks for good work. Together we make dinner, some of us cook and some are melting snow for water to us and the dogs.
Day 4
An early wake up to go ice fishing on our forest lake. Perhaps we can catch an Arctic Char or a Trout, a delicious fish, and our lunch is saved! In this area it's plenty of wolverines,lynx,we go to the see if we can spot some tracks, and if we are lucky also an animal. Also, the wolf often goes through this area occasionally .After lunch its time to head back to civilisation , we pack the sleds a last time and let the dogs take us back to the dog truck. Back at the Huskylodge we all help out to bring all dogs back to there yards and give them a solid dinner. Don't forget to thank them for good work! We have our last dinner together before we go to bed and dream about our adventure.
Day 5
After breakfast its time to say goodbye to the dogs, the guide & Jämtland. Hopefully, with a lot of nice memories…. Maybe you are already planning for your next adventure?
Please be aware of that the tour can be changed the last minute due to weather and snow condition- such as starting point, stretch, nightcamp e.tc.
