For those who want an active winter holiday…here you can be a part of all, the
work & life at a sled dog kennel with lots of Siberian huskies. Come with us on
a tour in the beautiful Swedish mountains with your own team of dogs! Rover,
Eldar & the other dogs will give you a lifetime experience. We spend our days
travelling with the sleds and the nights in tent or mountain station.
Day 1
Arrival and check in at the Husky lodge, located at the sleddogkennel. We say Hi
to the dogs, and we show you how to harness the dogs, trying the sleds & go
through the technique. We take a look at the equipment and after a nice dinner
we look at the map, we show you how to navigate with both compass and GPS. It’s
time to decide if we stay in tent or cabin, the weather and the groups
expectations will decide. We will aim for at least 1 night in tent..
Day 2
Early morning we pack the car and set of to the mountains.
Its
time to go with the dogs, and they will take you trough breathtaking views among
the magnificent mountains and wilderness of Sweden.… let the adventure begin. We
take lunch break when we see a nice spot. When its time to set camp, the whole
group helps out and above all - take care of the dogs. Dinner under the open
sky.
Day 3
We
wake up to the first morning in the mountains, maybe we are the only ones in
this area? It’s a nice feeling and totally quiet. After the dogs and our self
had breakfast, we are on the way again. Today you should have the right
“musherfeeling” and be able to master the sled. Sometimes it's hard work for us
and the dogs, but when we see the delightsome view around us we are getting paid
back. When camp is set, we attend to the dogs to check that everyone is ok. We
check their paws, claws and feel trough legs and body. They get some extra
snacks for good work. Together we make dinner, some of us cook and some are
melting snow for water to us and the dogs.
Day 4
Before having breakfast, we feed the dogs, they need some time to rest before
running. The weather decides what way we choose today. It can change fast in the
mountains… from blue sky sun to storm & blizzard. Especially hard wind takes
much energy from the dogs and people.
At the
end of the day, we take farewell of the mountains & we drive back to Husky
lodge. After shower and our last dinner together we take a look at all nice
pictures we taken and talk about our adventure.
Day 5
After breakfast its time to say goodbye to the dogs, the guide & Jämtland.
Hopefully, with a lot of nice memories…. Maybe you are already planning for your
next adventure.
Please be aware of that the tour can be changed the last minute due to weather
and snow condition- such as starting point, stretch, nightcamp e.tc.
